Senbazuru●
千羽鶴
The story of the ‘one thousand cranes’ or Senbazuru came to me by chance, although I have had a keen interest in Japanese culture for years. The crane is a mystical or holy creature in Japan and is said to live a thousand years. So I set out to fold 1,000 origami cranes between November 2022 and June 2023, because I had been touched by the story of Sadako Sasaki. Also at the time, I thought ‘why not?!’, and decided to follow this inner impetus. As I went through this experience, something shifted inside of me during those months - from an initial desire to tackle this fun challenge to finding mindfulness and presence in the process, and at the end a wish to give back at random, in streets, trains, fountains, trees, rivers… weaving invisible connections with strangers by offering a small token of colour, poetry and luck in different places! Perhaps this is the essence of the legend, a shift from the self to others, from individual to collective - in any case, keep your eyes opened, maybe you’ll find one when you next venture in Basel city and its surroundings!
And then was birthed the logo for my coaching enterprise, which underpins as a metaphor the transformation(s)
and metamorphose(s) we can all experience through life events, deep work on the self, conscious choices and authentic embodiment - thus changing from a discrete well defined encased geometric shape to a flowing dancing bird taking off to the skies!
To be anchored whilst in movement (literal or metaphorical), is an art to cultivate for oneself, in order to be connected to the world in a way that is nurturing, supportive, and fulfilling ♥︎.
