« One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice -
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
(...)
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do -
determined to save
the only life you could save. »

In no particular order:
hot chocolates, holding hands, peonies, climbing mountains, dancing in the rain, growing plants, pastels crayons and paints, cuddling huskies, Miyazaki’s movies, riding waves, sunsets and sunrises, a stormy sea, a lemon and chocolate
ice-cream, a belly laugh, fresh sourdough bread, art in all its forms and expressions, fantasy books (preferably with dragons and old magic!), a conscious breath, a campfire, colourful nail polish, poems, origamis, the smell of pine trees, kinship with the non-human world.
A bit about Valérie
I was born with a keenness to understand all things of the world which led me to study and work for many years in Science and Research: first as an organic then medicinal chemist, working with the invisible world of atoms and molecules to make matter in the physical world, then as a scientific communicator working with patients, healthcare professionals, data and storytelling. In the midst of this, I was also a photographer, a walker, a dancer, a mountain hiker, a poet, a writer, a crafter… searching myself through various forms of expression, shape shifting what I thought I knew of myself or of what I could do. Over time though, the rules of society and my life experience felt restrictive, normative and painful to my wild but also hypersensitive spirit. My joy, energy and authentic Self felt stifled, until I encountered the expressive arts through the Tamalpa organisation (www.tamalpa.org) allying body movement, drawing, voice and writing. Thanks to this practice, I reclaimed an agency in life that I felt I had lost, and reconnected to my body and the wisdoms and intuitions she holds. I believe in the power of creative practices as a potential catalyst for a life lived with more confidence, joy, compassion, flexibility, and freedom, and thus I trained over the last few years in these modalities and others to be able to offer to you today a safe space to welcome and explore your whole self and how you relate to the world.
I look forward to our encounter!
